Why it happens on WooCommerce
- Stock isn’t managed for the product, so its stock status stays “In stock” after it sells out.
- Backorders are allowed, so the page says “Available on backorder” while your data says “in stock”.
- A caching plugin or CDN shows an old copy of the page with the old stock status.
- A variation is out of stock while the parent product still shows as available.
How to fix it
- Open the product link from Merchant Center in a private window and check the stock message for that exact product or variation.
- In the product’s Inventory tab, check “Manage stock?”, the stock quantity, the stock status and whether backorders are allowed. For variable products, check each variation too.
- If you take backorders, make sure the page says so clearly. Google treats “backorder” and “in stock” as different.
- Clear your caching plugin and CDN after stock changes.
- Turn on automatic item updates in Merchant Center (or with one click in Merchant Guard). Google then uses the price and stock on your product page when they differ from your data, which stops most new mismatches from becoming disapprovals.
- Rescan in Merchant Guard after the next sync to confirm the issue has cleared.
