1. About these terms
These terms apply to the Merchant Guard Chrome extension, website and related services (“Merchant Guard”), provided by Merchant Guard (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Merchant Guard you agree to them. If you use Merchant Guard for a business, you confirm you can accept these terms for that business.
Merchant Guard is an independent product and isn’t made, endorsed or sponsored by Google. Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping are trademarks of Google LLC.
2. What Merchant Guard does
Merchant Guard helps you find, understand and fix issues in your Google Merchant Center account. It reads your account through Google’s Merchant API with your permission, proposes changes, and applies only the changes you approve.
We can’t guarantee results from Google. Google alone decides whether products are approved, whether accounts are reinstated, and how products perform. Merchant Guard improves your chances by fixing the causes it can see, but it can’t promise any particular outcome.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and use a Google account you’re entitled to use.
- Only connect Merchant Center accounts you own or are authorised to manage.
- Keep your Google account secure. You’re responsible for activity under your Merchant Guard account.
4. Changes you approve
Merchant Guard shows you each proposed change before it’s sent to Google, including the value, where it came from and, for AI-drafted values, that they were drafted by AI. You’re responsible for checking that values are accurate before you apply them, and for making sure your product data and website follow Google’s policies and the law. We provide undo and a fix history to help you correct mistakes.
5. The AI assistant
The assistant uses AI to explain issues and suggest fixes. AI can make mistakes. Treat its answers as guidance, check anything important, and don’t rely on it for legal, tax or financial advice. The assistant can’t make changes on its own; it can only prepare changes for you to review.
6. Plans, trials and payment
- Free is free. Paid plans (Pro and Agency) are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel.
- New subscribers may get a free trial of 14 days, once per customer. We’ll remind you by email before the trial ends. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you’re charged.
- Prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. If we change the price of your plan, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- Each plan has fair-use daily limits (for example assistant questions and page checks), shown on the pricing page and in your account.
7. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account (Manage subscription). Your plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then moves to Free. Fixes you’ve already applied stay in your Merchant Center account.
8. Refunds
If you’re not happy, email support@merchant-guard.co.uk within 14 days of a payment and we’ll refund it. After 14 days, payments are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise or where Merchant Guard was unavailable for a significant part of the period you paid for.
If you’re a consumer (using Merchant Guard for purposes outside your trade or business), you also have the right to cancel within 14 days of first subscribing. By starting to use paid features in that period, you agree that we may deduct an amount for the service you used before cancelling. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t use Merchant Guard to break the law or Google’s policies, to submit false or misleading product information, to access accounts you aren’t authorised to use, to interfere with or overload our service, or to copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. We may suspend accounts that do.
10. Google, Shopify and other services
Merchant Guard relies on services we don’t control, including Google’s Merchant API, Shopify and Stripe. Their terms apply to your use of them, and changes they make can affect Merchant Guard. We’ll do our best to adapt quickly, but we’re not responsible for their availability or decisions.
11. Intellectual property
We own Merchant Guard, including its software, design and content. You own your data. You give us permission to use your data only as needed to provide Merchant Guard, as described in our privacy policy. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Merchant Guard running smoothly but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a major paid feature, we’ll tell you in advance and you can cancel with a refund for any unused prepaid period.
13. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you use Merchant Guard for business, we aren’t liable for loss of profits, sales, revenue, business or data, or for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
If you’re a consumer, we’re responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We provide Merchant Guard for business use, so we aren’t responsible for business losses.
14. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Merchant Guard and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop providing Merchant Guard, in which case we’ll give you reasonable notice (at least 30 days where we can) and refund any unused prepaid period.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Merchant Guard after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can cancel.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@merchant-guard.co.uk; most problems can be sorted out quickly.
