How to fix “Website needs improvement” in Google Merchant Center

Merchant Center shows this as “Website needs improvement or doesn’t meet requirements” or similar wording. Here’s what it means and how to fix it.

Guided fixStops products showing

What it means

Google expects a working shop with clear contact details, a return policy, visible delivery costs, secure checkout and no unfinished pages. Missing basics can stop products showing or lead to a suspension.

How to fix it yourself

  1. Make contact details easy to find: at least an email address and phone number, ideally a business address.
  2. Publish clear return and refund terms and delivery costs, linked from every page.
  3. Check that products can be added to the basket and checkout works over https, with a conventional payment method.
  4. Remove placeholder text and "coming soon" pages, then request a review from the issue in Merchant Center.

Based on Google’s help page: support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150244. Google changes its rules from time to time, so check the issue’s own “Learn more” link in Merchant Center too.
