How to fix “Price doesn’t match your website” on Shopify

Google found a different price on your Shopify product page from the one in your product data. On Shopify this is usually an app or script changing the price on the page, a different variant opening from the product link, or a price change that hasn’t synced yet.

Why it happens on Shopify

  • A discount, sale or currency app changes the price shown on the page with a script, but the price saved in Shopify (which the Google & YouTube channel sends) hasn’t changed.
  • The product link opens a different variant from the one in your data, so Google compares the wrong price. Variant links end in ?variant= followed by a number.
  • You sell in more than one country and the page shows a converted price that doesn’t match the price and currency Google has for that country.
  • You changed the price recently and Google crawled the page before your product data updated.

How to fix it

  1. Open the product link from Merchant Center (including any ?variant= part) in a private browser window and note the price you see.
  2. In Shopify admin, open Products, then the product and the exact variant, and check its Price. Change the price here rather than in a discount or price app, so the page and your product data agree.
  3. If an app changes prices on the page, set the sale price in Shopify itself (Price and Compare-at price) or turn the app off for products you advertise.
  4. If you sell in other countries, check that each country’s Merchant Center data uses the same price and currency a visitor from that country sees.
  5. Turn on automatic item updates in Merchant Center (or with one click in Merchant Guard). Google then uses the price and stock on your product page when they differ from your data, which stops most new mismatches from becoming disapprovals.
  6. Wait for the Google & YouTube channel to send the change, then let Google recrawl. The issue clears on its own once the prices match.
