How to fix “Duplicate product IDs” in Google Merchant Center

Merchant Center shows this as “Duplicate product or item ID” or similar wording. Here’s what it means and how to fix it.

Guided fixLimits how products show

What it means

Duplicate product records or conflicting item identifiers can make it unclear which submitted record should be used. Confirm the source and target country/language before removing anything.

How to fix it yourself

  1. Compare the affected item IDs and inspect which source or feed submits each record.
  2. Check that each ID is stable and unique for the intended item and target context.
  3. Correct duplicate feed rows or source mappings rather than deleting a legitimate variant by guesswork.
  4. Refresh the source and confirm the intended item remains present after processing.
